Freeport-McMoRan to Sell Deepwater Gulf of Mexico Properties - Freeport-McMoRan Incorporated (NYSE:FCX) (Phoenix, Arizona) announced on Monday that it had entered into a purchase and sale agreement with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:APC) (The Woodlands, Texas) for the sale of its deepwater Gulf of Mexico properties for total cash consideration of $2 billion. NRG Buys Texas Solar Farm - NRG Energy Incorporated (NYSE:NRG) (Princeton, New Jersey) won its $188 million bid to buy the 200-megawatt Buckthorn solar farm in Pecos County, Texas, from SunEdison Incorporated (Maryland Heights, Missouri). (Fuel Fix)
West Coast Leads Fourth-Quarter U.S. Solar Project Starts - Industrial Info is tracking more than $1.7 billion in solar power projects that are planned to kick off in the U.S. from October through December 2016. (IIR)

Canada PM Likely to Approve Trans Mountain Pipeline - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau plans to approve at least one new oil pipeline project in his first term, with Kinder Morgan Incorporated (NYSE:KMI) (Houston, Texas) Trans Mountain expansion to the Pacific Coast the most likely candidate, people familiar with his plans told Bloomberg. Saudi Arabia Surpasses U.S. as Biggest Oil Producer - Paris-based International Energy Agency reports that Saudi Arabia has surpassed the U.S. as the largest oil producer in the world. U.S. output in August was 12.2 million barrels a day (BBL/d), including natural gas liquids, while Saudi Arabia's output was 12.58 BBL/d. (Bloomberg)
China's Crude Production Down 10% Year Over Year - China's crude oil production fell almost 10% to 3.87 million barrels per day in August, the least since December 2009 on a daily basis and the second month of sharp decline. (Reuters)

SoCalGas Unlikely to Restart L.A.-Area Storage Field Until Autumn - Southern California Gas Company is not likely to return the Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility in Los Angeles to partial service until at least early autumn, according to conversations with regulators. The utility shut the field in October 2015 because of a massive methane leak, which was plugged in February. (Reuters)
