Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Cooperative owned, East Kansas Argi-Energy LLC (Garnett, Kansas) has begun construction of a new fuel ethanol plant in Kansas to become the seventh plant of its kind in a state that ranks in the top ten in corn crop production.
Dirt work and site excavation began Monday, September 20, 2004, at the 56-acre site located in the Golden Prairie Industrial Park in Garnett, Kansas, about 100 miles southwest of Kansas City. The fuel ethanol processing plant will bring another 35 million gallons of capacity to an industry that has experienced 41% growth over the past three years.
The company selected ICM Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) to provide the technology and engineering for this estimated $45 million project. East Kansas Argi-Energy LLC will be aided in construction by ethanol plant builder Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota).
The plant will chew up some nine million bushels of locally-grown corn per year to produce 35 million gallons of ethanol annually and generate about 81,000 tons of distiller dried grains with solubles.
ICM indicated that the project is on a fast track building schedule and that construction is expected to take only eight months to complete.
Industrialinfo.com first reported on this project in July of 2001, as part of its North American Industrial Database. Once completed, Kansas seven ethanol plants will have the capability to produce over 112 million gallons per year of the renewable fuel. Three other plants are in the development phase in the state, as well.
East Kansas Agri-Energys mission is to be a fully dedicated producer of renewable energy fuel products for the 21st Century. Its goal is to develop an ethanol production facility in Garnett, Kansas utilizing the latest construction and processing technology, in order to insure protection of the environment and enhancement of the community.
