Ecuador Refinery Margins Continue to Deteriorate Amid COVID-19, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Ecuador's state-owned refiner EP Petroecuador was forced to shut down its Esmeraldas Refinery April 7 due to a power outage
Ecuador's state-owned refiner EP Petroecuador shut down its Esmeraldas Refinery April 7 due to a power outage. The company kept it offline when it became clear that low demand for refined products amid COVID-19 had all but erased available storage capacity.
The 45,400-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) La Libertad Refinery had been shut down April 4, also due to storage unavailability. EP Petroecuador says the date of each site's restart will depend on the resumption of fuel demand.
