LNG
Energy Transfer Seeks New LNG Export License - Pipeline operator Energy Transfer LP (NYSE:ET) (Dallas, Texas) on Friday requested a new and expedited export license for its proposed Lake Charles, Louisiana, liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant, according to a filing with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The department in May had refused a three-year extension to Energy Transfer's earlier license, saying the request did not meet criteria for a second extension. PRODUCTION
Storm Brewing in Gulf to Strengthen En Route to Texas - A storm system brewing in the Gulf of Mexico could strengthen into a named storm as it takes aim at the Texas coast, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Monday. The system is expected to develop into a tropical depression later on Monday and move inland over south Texas early on Tuesday, likely bringing 3 to 5 inches of rainfall, with isolated higher amounts of 7 inches, the hurricane center said. There are a total of five storm systems now swirling in the Atlantic, with U.S. forecasters recently saying they expect a more dangerous Atlantic storm season than previously projected. (Reuters)
NATURAL GAS
U.S. Natural Gas Prices Jump 3% - U.S. natural gas futures gained about 3% on Monday on forecasts that persistent hot weather through early September would keep air conditioning demand high, especially in Texas and other central U.S. states. Front-month gas futures for September delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 8.1 cents, or 3.2%, to settle at $2.632 per million British thermal units. (Reuters)
