Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) (Irving, Texas) has rescheduled the date for a planned turnaround on the 90,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Fluid Catalytic Cracker Unit 2 (FCCU), or "Fuels West" unit, at the company's 557,000-BBL/d refinery in Baytown, Texas. The unit had been scheduled to be shut down for 45 days in February 2011, but instead it will be shut down in March 2012.
The company previously shut down the FCCU for 12 days in early February 2009, citing minor unplanned maintenance. The next planned turnaround at the Baytown refinery will be on the 30,000-BBL/d mid-distillate HU 4/KHF kerosene hydrotreater, which will begin on May 1 and last about 45 days.
The Baytown refinery has been in operation since 1920 and is part of ExxonMobil's Baytown Area, which is the largest petroleum and petrochemical complex in the U.S. The entire complex covers five square miles and includes the refinery, two chemical plants, a regional engineering office and a global technology center.
