Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Construction for a new crumb rubber line addition planned by Firestone Polymers LLC (Akron, Ohio) at its Orange, Texas, plant site began earlier this year. A new building is being constructed that will house the unit No. 3 production line, increasing the plant capacity of synthetic rubber. The Total Investment Value (TIV) for this project is estimated at $35 million. The project was originally reported by Industrialinfo.com in May 1999.
Firestone Polymers, a division of Bridgestone Americas Holdings Incorporated of Nashville, Tennessee, produces synthetic rubber products not only at the Orange plant site, but also in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Both the Texas and Louisiana plant sites have been in operation for over 50 years and use a proprietary technology known as anionic polymerization to produce high purity synthetic polymers. These polymers serve a vast array of industries, which include the rubber, plastics, asphalt, and dipped goods markets.
