The Oakfield project will be built on the low ridges of the Oakfield Hills, using pre-existing commercial roads and infrastructure. The project will have 48 Vestas V-112 model wind turbines. The new facility is expected to begin full commercial operations by the end of 2015.
First Wind said the project will increase the First Wind's total capital expenditures in Maine to more than $1 billion. It will be sold to four Massachusetts utilities as part of a 15-year contract.
Reed & Reed Incorporated (Woolwich, Maine) will provide the engineering, procurement, and construction services.
