GD Power to Build 8,000-Megawatt, Coal-Fired Power Plant in Jiangxi

GD Power Development Company Limited (SHA:600795) signed the investment cooperation agreement for the 8,000-megawatt Xinyu Power Plant with the municipal government of Xinyu city.

Released Monday, July 16, 2012

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--GD Power Development Company Limited (SHA:600795) (Beijing), the listed flagship of China Guodian Corporation (Beijing), signed the investment cooperation agreement for the 8,000-megawatt (MW) Xinyu Power Plant with the municipal government of Xinyu city in Beijing on June 1, 2012. This is the first large-scale, coal-fired power project planned by GD Power in Xinyu and in the entire Jiangxi province. The signing of the agreement means that GD Power has made an important step for its development in Jiangxi, according to a recent announcement from China Guodian Corporation.

According to the agreement, both parties will perform the construction of an 8,000-MW, coal-fired power plant in Xinyu city through a rolling development in four phases. Two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units will be built in Phase I.

At the end of 2011, GD Power had a total controllable installed capacity of 32.04 gigawatts (GW), with power plants distributed in 23 provinces (autonomous regions) in China. "With the signing of the agreement, GD Power will accelerate the pre-stage preparation of the project and try the best to have the project included in the national plan as soon as possible," said Feng Shuchen, the general manager of GD Power, at the signing ceremony. "Through the implementation of the project, GD Power will further enhance its cooperation with the government of Xinyu city in various aspects and sectors."

Xinyu is an emerging city with iron and steel, new energy, and new materials as its main industries. The current power infrastructure of the city can't meet the demand of economic development in the city. The cooperation with GD Power for the construction of the coal-fired power project in Xinyu will pave a firm foundation for the local power construction and promote the rapid development of the local economy. "The government of Xinyu City will spare no efforts to support GD Power's development in Xinyu," said Li Anze, the party secretary of Xinyu Municipal Commission, on the ceremony.
