Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Waste-to-energy equipment manufacturer GGI Energy Incorporated (Plano, Texas) is planning a renewable diesel project for Creston, Iowa. The company wants the project to utilize a patented technology that will produce high temperatures to convert waste into a gas that will be further refined into a renewable diesel.
GGI is asking for Union County to donate an acre of land next to the Prairie Solid Waste Agency Municipal Plant. The plan is to digest 40 tons per day of municipal solid waste and convert it into 5,200 gallons of commercial-grade diesel. GGI will cover the construction, operation, and maintenance expenses of the venture. The project also will have the ability to use the gas produced in the process to power on-site electrical generators instead of diesel.
GGI's $50 million project is in the planning, engineering and permitting stages, with a construction start target for the summer of next year. It will take about 12 months to complete. GGI already has two plants in Japan and Korea.
