Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Guangxi Electric Power Industry Investigation Design and Research Institute (GXED) (Nanning, Guangxi), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), signed the engineering contract for Guangxi Baise Mining Group Company Limited's (GBMG) (Baise, Guangxi) 700-megawatt (MW) Baise Xinshan Aluminum Smelter cogeneration unit project on December 20, 2013, according to an announcement from the CEEC on December 24.
The project, which is part of GBMG's Aluminum Smelter Complex, is located in the Xinshan Aluminum Industry Demonstration Park in Tianyang County of Baise City, in southwestern China's Guangxi autonomous region. According to the contract, the project will be furnished with two 350-MW, supercritical, coal-fired units, with space reserved for future expansion. The units will begin operations in September and December 2015.
In October 2013, GBMG signed an agreement with the government of Tianyang County for the construction of an Aluminum Smelter Complex in the Xinshan Aluminum Industry Demonstration Park, which comprises a 700-MW, coal-fired, plant-service power plant and an aluminum smelter capable of producing 300,000 tons per year of aluminum-water, with a total investment of about $820 million in the initial stage. In Phase II, GBMG will build a 50,000-ton-per-year refined aluminum production line; a 30,000-ton-per-year, high-purity aluminum production line; and an aluminum rolling mill, with the capacity to produce 250,000 tons per year aluminum sheets, strips and foils.
Among the leaders and representatives who attended the signing ceremony were Lin Guochao, the president of GXED, and Wang Xiang, the president of GBMG, who signed the contract on behalf of both parties; Huang Qijiang, the chairman of GBMG; and He Yuancheng, the vice president of GXED.
