The approved coal mining project is to be built by Henan Yima Coal Industry (Group) Company, Limited. Located in Mengjing County, Luoyang City, Henan Province in Central China, the project has an annual mining capacity of 1.2 million tons per annum and a total investment of $ 89.6 million. Construction is expected to take 36 months to complete. Upon completion of the project, annual sales revenue of the company could be increased by $37.4 million. The project will supply more coal for Luoyang's growing thermal power plant consumption base.

The total installed electricity capacity of thermal power plants in Luoyang has presently reached 6,320 MW, and the demand on coal supply continues to increase. The total coal demand of Luoyang is expected to reach 43 million tons in 2007, while the coal production output in Luoyang is less than 10 million tons. The construction of the Mengjing coal mining project will help alleviate the shortage in coal resources in the area.
