Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Harbin Boiler Limited Company (Harbin, Heilongjiang), a subsidiary of Harbin Power Equipment Corporation (HPEC) (Harbin, Heilongjiang), signed the contract for the supply eight sets of devices for two projects involving Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear power units in China on January 24, 2009.
According to the contract, HPEC will supply the passive residual heat exchange for Unit 2 of the Sanmen Nuclear Power Station in eastern China's Zhejiang province, as well as core makeup tanks for Sanmen and the Haiyang Nuclear Power Station in the Shandong province. The total amount of the contract surpassed $44 million.
This contract is a new breakthrough in the supply of nuclear island equipment for HEPC following the successful signing of the first order in China for the supply of steam generators for Unit 2 of the Sanmen Nuclear Power Station. The contract demonstrates that HPEC has fully entered into the manufacturing sector of third-generation nuclear island equipment, which will actively promote the development of HPEC in the nuclear power sector.
As one of the top-three power equipment manufacturers in China, HPEC engaged in the manufacture of the gas and water separation units for China's first nuclear power submarine in the 1960s. In the 1990s, HPEC successfully delivered two 650-megawatt (MW) steam turbine-generator units for Qinshan II, and was in charge of the conventional island. HPEC also manufactured the molten salt reactors for two 1,000-MW units at the Ling'ao Nuclear Power Station. To date, HPEC has established a nuclear-power quality assurance system together with a batch of experienced professional talents. Presently, HPEC is working on a coastal area expansion project in order to manufacture 1,000 MW of nuclear power equipment per year.
