Hubei Energy Signs Agreement to Build 700-Megawatt Cogeneration Project in Xinjiang

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The signing ceremony for a cooperative framework agreement on an energy project between Hubei Energy Group Company Limited (SZ:000883) (Wuhan, Hubei) and Nongwusi, which is part of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corporation (Bole, Xinjiang), was held in Bole City, the capital of Bortala prefecture, in the Xinjiang autonomous region, on March 9, 2011.
According to the agreement, Hubei Energy Group and Nongwusi Electric Power Company (Bole, Xinjiang), a subsidiary of Nongwusi, will jointly develop a cogeneration power plant in the proposed Xinsai Industry Park, in the Economic and Technology Development Zone of Nongwusi. The cogeneration power plant will be furnished with two 350-megawatt (MW) combined heat and power coal-fired units in the initial stage.
As a key platform for the implementation of the assistance efforts from Hubei province in Nongwusi, the proposed Xinsai Industry Park, which covers an area of 6.8 square kilometers in the north of Bole City, is an important carrier in promoting the urbanization level of Nongwusi.
Nongwusi has decided to build a modern, ecological and cyclic economic industry park. The chemical industry is to be the leading industry, others such as food and beverages, new construction materials, and logistic services.
Hubei Energy Group, a leading power producer in Central China's Hubei province, currently has a total controllable installed capacity of 5,445.5 MW, including a hydropower installed capacity of 3,618.3 MW and a coal-fired power of 1,800 MW.
According to the agreement, both parties will actively explore other cooperation opportunities in wind power and solar energy in Xinjiang.
Li Changcai, the deputy general manager of Hubei Energy Group, and Song Guoan, the deputy commander of Nongwusi, signed the agreement on behalf of the parties, Hubei Energy Group announced on March 20, 2011. Among the leaders and representatives who attended the ceremony were Fu Zhenbang, the general manager of Hubei Energy Group, and Li Yingliang, the commander of Nongwusi.
