BASF Total Petrochemicals's 2.3 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit in Port Arthur, Texas is in the process of restarting

BASF Total Petrochemicals's 2.3 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit in Port Arthur, Texas, is in the process of restarting. The unit unexpectedly shut down on June 12 due to mechanical complications within a compressor.

Shell Chemical is restarting the 2.3 billion-pound-per-year OP 3 ethylene unit at its Deer Park, Texas, plant. The unit was shut down on September 26 to complete furnace maintenance.

Chevron Phillips Chemical has delayed a 45-day turnaround of the 1.47 billion-pound-per-year Ethylene 24 unit at its Sweeny, Texas, plant. The turnaround originally was scheduled to begin in January 2021, but is now planned to begin on April 1.

Hanwha Total Petrochemical Company Limited remains on schedule to perform a 30-day planned turnaround, starting on January 31, 2021, of the 683 million-pound-per-year Train 2, which is part of the 2.8 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit, at its Daesan Petrochemicals Plant in South Korea. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by March 1.

Yeochun NCC Company Limited began a 61-day planned turnaround of the 1.2 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit on October 20 at its Yeosu Chemicals No. 2 Plant in South Korea. Expectations are to resume normal operations on December 19. A revamp project aimed at increasing the unit capacity up to 1.7 billion pounds per year is being performed during the turnaround.

Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex LLC restarted the 308 million-pound-per-year ethylene and 275 million-pound-per-year polyethylene units on October 22 at its Guzar Shurtan Gas-Chemical Complex in Uzbekistan. The units were shut down for a planned turnaround on October 12 and 13, respectively.
