Marathon, on August 9, shut down the 60,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Ultracracker, due to mechanical issues, at its 437,000-BBL/d Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, Texas. The unit could possibly be back online by the end of the week.
Phillips 66, on August 9, restarted the 78,000-BBL/d Heavy Oil Cracker (HOC) 27.1 Unit at its 247,000-BBL/d Sweeny Refinery in Texas, after the unit shut down the day before due to a power blip.
Pemex TRI continues with planned repairs on the 50,000-BBL/d Gasoil Hydrotreater HDS Unit 502 at its 177,000-BBL/d refinery in Ciudad Madero, Mexico. Sources indicate the unit will be back online by August 21. Separately, the whole refinery is processing a total of 80,000 BBL/d, with the processing units running at reduced capacity. They will continue operating at reduced rates in the coming weeks.
International
Shell Eastern Petroleum Limited (SEPL) continues with a planned turnaround of the 35,000-BBL/d Hydrocracker, which began July 7 at its 430,000-BBL/d (design capacity: 500,000-BBL/d) Pulau Bukom Refinery in Singapore. The unit is expected to be back online on August 13. SEPL also continues with a planned turnaround of the 58,000-BBL/d Diesel Hydrodesulfurization (HDS) 5 Unit. The unit is expected to return online on August 23.
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has rescheduled the 27-day planned shutdown of the 48,000-BBL/d Delayed Coker Unit at its 300,000-BBL/d Panipat Refinery in India. The turnaround now is expected to begin by June 5, 2022. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by July 1, 2022.
Total Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland has completed an upgrade of the 24,500-BBL/d Visbreaker Unit at its 240,000-BBL/d Leuna Refinery in Germany.
