IIR Top Refining News Today: November 2nd 2020

Valero restarted the 57,000-BBL/d VGO Hydrocracker 943 unit on October 30, after being shut down on August 25 due to Hurricane Laura, at its 343,000-BBL/d Port Arthur, Texas, refinery

Valero restarted the 57,000-BBL/d VGO Hydrocracker 943 unit on October 30, after being shut down on August 25 due to Hurricane Laura, at its 343,000-BBL/d Port Arthur, Texas, refinery. The refinery remains at rate reductions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deer Park Refining restarted the 38,500-BBL/d Jet/Diesel Hydrotreater (HDU-1) on October 31 at its 340,000-BBL/d Deer Park, Texas, refinery after being shut on October 20.

Flint Hills Resources restarted the 83,125-BBL/d VDU on October 30, after being shut on October 17 for undisclosed reasons, at its 293,000-BBL/d Corpus Christi West Refinery in Texas.

International
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) continues to operate its 760,000-BBL/d Jamnagar SEZ Refinery in India at approximately 84% due to low demand as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. As of November 2, the 380,000-BBL/d CDU 1 is operational at 89%, while the 380,000-BBL/d CDU 2 is at 79%. The CDU 1 and CDU 2 are tentatively expected to resume full throughput by November 17.

Abadan Oil Refining Company (AORC) plans to start commercial operations of eight units by December 15, 2021, as part of the Abadan Phase 2 Upgrading project, at its 450,000-BBL/d Abadan Refinery in Iran. The units have been under construction since November 15, 2017. Separately, AORC plans to permanently close down the 80,000-BBL/d CDU 1 (Unit 70), 90,000-BBL/d CDU 2 (Unit 75) and 130,000-BBL/d CDU 3 (Unit 80) after the Abadan Phase 2 project startup.

KirishiNefteOrgSyntez restarted the 56,000-BBL/d ABT-2 (Crude 1) and 33,600-BBL/d ABT-2 (Vacuum 1) in mid-October at its 420,000-BBL/d Kirishi Refinery in Russia. The units were shut down for planned maintenance on September 9. Separately, the 31,300-BBL/d Hydrotreater L-24/6 is expected to restart on November 6. Meanwhile, a planned 11-day maintenance turnaround of the 12,000-BBL/d Reformer L-35-11/600 is now expected to kick off November 9.
