India's Mono-Ethylene Glycol Production Set to Blossom through 2027

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--India's chemical producers are projected to add more than 7 billion pounds per year of mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) production capacity by 2027. MEG is in demand as a feedstock for products such as polyester fibres and films, coolants, solvents and antifreeze products, among others.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is planning 1.37 billion pounds per year in MEG capacity additions, of which 1.01 billion pounds per year are scheduled to be operational by the end of this year. IOCL plans the remaining 360 million pounds per year to be operational by 2026.

Haldia Petrochemicals Limited plans to add 2.65 billion pounds per year, while Nagarjuna Oil Corporation Limited and Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) together is planning to add 617 million pounds per year over the next five years. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) plans 900 million pounds per year, while a joint venture between Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) together are targeting 1.5 billion pounds per year.
