Indonesia's tax office announced it now will grant incentives to oil and gas contractors as early as the exploration and even exploitation stages.

For instance, the office will waive luxury or value-added taxes on goods used for exploration, and land and building taxes related to oil and gas projects will be reduced. These changes are expected to encourage more upstream investment.
