Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Recently, China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region released a document to address climate change during the "14th Five-Year Plan." The document proposes to strictly control the new capacity of high-pollution and high energy-consuming industries. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the autonomous region will no longer approve new capacity projects such as coke (blue charcoal), calcium carbide, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), synthetic ammonia (urea), methanol, ethylene glycol, and caustic soda. The production capacity of coke in the region will be controlled to about 60 million tons, the calcium carbide will be controlled to about 14 million tons, and the PVC will be controlled to about 5 million tons. Carbon capture built by coal chemical enterprises will be encouraged.
Industrial Info is tracking $78.66 billion worth of chemical processing projects in Inner Mongolia. According to IIR's database, about $26 billion of these projects are for high-pollution and high energy-consuming industries, and $8 billion worth of these projects have not yet received approval.
