Interdisciplinary Research Expansion Building Rises on Medical College of Georgia Campus
The Department of Physiology will have use of research space and the MCG Office of Technology Transfer and Economic Development will also operate an incubator within the building to foster development of new biomedical businesses.

Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Construction is well under way on a four-story, 102,000 square-foot addition (PEC 17001282) to the Medical College of Georgia's (MCG) Interdisciplinary Research Center Building located in Augusta, Georgia (Plant 1049035). The $21 million addition will house the Center for Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine, a 6,000 square-foot animal vivarium and 30 research laboratories.
The Department of Physiology will have use of research space and the MCG Office of Technology Transfer and Economic Development will also operate an incubator within the building to foster development of new biomedical businesses.
Lord Aeck and Sergeant (LAS) (Atlanta, Georgia) is the project architect and Turner Construction (Dallas, Texas) is the construction manager. The formal groundbreaking for the project was on August 21, 2002 and construction should be complete by late summer of 2004.
