Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 110,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) refinery in Taranto, Italy, will undergo a planned maintenance turnaround in 2009. The plant is located in the coastal city of Taranto in the southern region of Puglia. Built in the 1960s, the refinery, which can process a wide range of crude and other feedstocks, is currently owned and operated by Eni SpA (NYSE:E) (Rome, Italy).
The maintenance shutdown will take place in September 2009 and is expected to last approximately 45 non-production days. The turnaround will entail mainly routine inspection, cleaning and maintenance and will involve the residue hydrocracker and two claus units. A new hydrocracker was brought online this year as part of an upgrading plan that Eni is carrying out at the refinery.
