Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Japanese automotive supplier Tsuda Industries Company Limited has begun construction on its first North American plant in Greenfield, Indiana. The new manufacturing plant is estimated to cost $56.2 million.
At the Mount Comfort Air Park East, construction is under way on a 20-acre site for a 155,000-square-foot building that will supply parts to several Toyota manufacturing plants in Indiana and Kentucky. Overall completion of the new facility is scheduled by the end of the year, with operations starting by the first day of 2014. Takenaka USA Corporation (Greenwood, Indiana) was selected among three other contractors to provide general construction services. Approximately 116 jobs are expected to be created by 2016, when the facility reaches full operational status.
Tsuda Industries manufactures a variety of automotive transmission and chassis components and has more than 1,500 employees in East Asia, which includes Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and China. The company supplies parts to Toyota, Denso, Aisin, Suzuki and Honda. Tsuda Industries is partially owned by The Toyota Group, a conglomerate company consisting of Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM) (Toyota, Aichi, Japan), Toyota Industries Corporation and Kariya, Aichi (TYO:6201.T).
