Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Japanese Cataler North America Corporation (Lincolnton, North Carolina) is planning a $31 million expansion of their catalytic converter plant in Lincolnton, North Carolina. The company plans to expand the existing 190,000-square-foot building, plus install new machinery equipment, to increase the plant's existing capacity.
The expansion will be the company's third since beginning operations in 2001. A $16.3 million expansion in 2008 and a 2006 expansion added 80,000 square feet to the original plant, and boosted the manufacturing space to 190,000 square feet. The expansion included the addition of manufacturing equipment and facility improvements. Construction on this third expansion is anticipated to begin in July of this year, with overall completion set for the end of the year. Approximately 40 jobs will be created.
Kajima Building & Design Group (Atlanta, Georgia) (KBD) was selected to provide design and construction services for the expansion.
Cataler North America is owned by Cataler Corporation, which supplies catalytic converters to Toyota Motor Company (NYSE:TM) (Toyota City, Japan) and most U.S. automakers. The company is considered a leading manufacturer of the world's top-level technologies in areas of catalysts for cleaning automobile emissions.
