Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company (Agawam, Massachusetts), a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP (NYSE:KMP) (Houston, Texas), has selected Hatch Mott MacDonald (Iselin, New Jersey) to provide engineering services for a natural gas pipeline loop. The project is designed to add 72 million cubic feet per day of gas to markets in New England.
The $81.2 million, 20-inch diameter, grassroot natural gas pipeline will extend for 13.3 miles between Hampden County, Massachusetts, and West Hartford, Connecticut.
Hatch Mott will provide detailed design services for the expansion. Tennessee Gas Pipeline and Hatch Mott are engaged in surveys, route selection and piping designs. Tennessee Gas Pipeline will begin releasing requests for quotations for long-lead equipment this quarter, and the general contractor bid package is expected to be released in early 2015.
Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2015, and the project is scheduled to be operating by year-end 2016.
