Clacyco Construction Company's (Saint Louis, Missouri) Chicago office has been selected as the Design-Build contractor for the 860,000 square foot building. A pre-cast concrete tilt-up wall and steel roof building has been specified for the project. Construction is scheduled to be complete sometime during the first quarter of 2003. The 67-acre site is located on Edgelawn Drive in the Prime Aurora industrial park located in Aurora, Illinois. Kraft's existing leased 530,937 square foot distribution center, located less than a mile from the new site, will be put back on the market after the relocation.
The warehouse will be mainly used for dry storage with a 50,000 square foot humidity controlled area for some Kraft products. Shipping and receiving areas along with a new 16,000 square foot office will also be built.
Kraft Foods, the largest branded food and beverage company headquartered in the U.S., markets many of the world's leading brands, including Kraft cheese, Maxwell House, and Jacobs coffees, Nabisco cookies and crackers, Philadelphia cream cheese, Oscar Mayer meats, Post cereals, and Milka chocolates, in more than 140 countries.
