Langboard Invests $70 Million at OSB Mill In Georgia
When the mill opened in 1988, OSB was produced in 9-foot panels. At the end of the construction phase next fall, a new press line will allow for the production of 8-foot panels.

Langboard OSB Incorporated, a privately held company, is making a $70 million investment in a project that will double the production of oriented strand board (OSB) at a mill in Quitman Georgia. The company recently started construction on a project that will add a new production line and increase annual production from 220 million square feet to 440 million square feet.
When the mill opened in 1988, OSB was produced in 9-foot panels. At the end of the construction phase next fall, a new press line will allow for the production of 8-foot panels. In addition to the new line, emission control equipment will be installed to comply with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) maximum achievable control technology (MACT) mandate.CPM Incorporated (Cary, North Carolina), a leading design and construction management services company, is the engineering and construction contractor of record for the OSB expansion.
Oriented strand board is made from low-grade tree fibers and is often used as sheathing panels for walls, roofs and floors. According to Industrialinfo.com's Southeast Online Plant Directory, there are approximately 1,150 operational industrial manufacturing plants in Georgia and roughly 4,500 in the region, including Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and Mississippi.
