The windfarm was developed by TradeWind Energy LLC (Lenexa, Kansas) and is owned by Smoky Hills Wind Farm LLC, an affiliate of ENEL North America (Andover, Massachusetts), a subsidiary of ENEL SpA (BIT:ENEL) (Rome, Italy). Phase II will feature 99 1.5-MW General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) 1.5sle wind turbine/generator sets for and additional 148.5-MW. This phase is expected to be complete in November 2008. The windfarm is connected to Midwest Energy Incorporated's (Hays, Kansas) 230-kilovolt transmission line in Ellsworth County, Kansas.
