Malaysian Steel Manufacturers Ready to Restart, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Malaysian steel manufacturers are preparing to start production after the Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF) and its members received permission to operate within the quarantine period from the government. Steel and iron facilities plan to gradually restart operation to comply with government health guidelines and safety precautions as the Ministry of International and Trade Industry (MITI) officially added the industry in its critical economic sectors amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. A majority of midstream and downstream steel plants have been shuttered since March, after Malaysia declared a nationwide lockdown to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
