Mingyang Wind Power Signs Agreement with Six Developers for Supply of Wind Turbines

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Guangdong Mingyang Wind Power Technology Company Limited, one of the major wind power manufacturers in China and a subsidiary of Guangdong Mingyang Electric Group Company Limited, headquartered in Zhongshan city in southern China's Guangdong province, together with Shengguo Tongyuan (Beijing) Technologies Company Limited, another leading wind power technology provider in China, signed the framework agreement with six large wind-power developers for the local supply of wind turbines in the bidding process organized by the government of Fuxin City for the concession operation of wind farms in Fuxin on December 4, 2008.

These six large wind power developers are Huaneng Fuxin Wind Power Company Limited (Fuxing, Liaoning), Datang Liaoning New Energy Company Limited (Shenyang, Liaoning), Liaoning Energy (Group) Investment Corporation (LEIC) (Shenyang, Liaoning), China Wind Power Corporation (HKG:0182) (Beijing), Fuxin Kaidi New Energy Company Limited (Fuxin, Liaoning), and Fuxin Gold Wheel Wind Power Company Limited (Fuxin, Liaoning).

According to the agreement, Mingyang Wind Power and Shengguo Tongyuan, as two major shareholders, will set up a joint venture for the manufacture of wind turbines in Fuxin City, with partial investment from LEIC and China Wind Power Corporation. Construction of the manufacturing base in Fuxin will begin in March 2009, and the project is expected to begin full operation in October 2009. Annual production capacity of the manufacturing base will be 300 sets of wind turbines with 300 sets of blades for the turbines. Meanwhile, the local government will arrange more than 2,000-megawatt (MW) of wind power capacity from the Fuxin region.

In order to promote local wind power development, shorten equipment supply and service distances, and reduce the cost of logistics, the local government included the local supply of wind turbines into the public bidding process for the concession of wind power development in the region. "The signing of the Agreement will have a profound result on Mingyang Wind Power's market expansion in northeastern and eastern Inner Mongolia and will greatly promote the construction of the 1,000-MW wind power industry project in Fuxin City, Liaoning province.
