Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). According to data extracted from Industrialinfo.com’s Industrial Project Spending Database, the Food & Beverage industry in Missouri will spend close to $80 million during the 2006 calendar year on major new construction, plant expansions and maintenance-related projects.

Spending activity has always been strong in Missouri considering the diversification of food and beverage manufacturing in the state. Some of the larger and most recognized employers in the state include Anheuser-Busch, Tyson, General Mills, Land-O-Lakes, ConAgra, and ADM.

Glancing at the projects and capital spending for 2006, some of the most notable and larger projects that began last year will still be under construction throughout the 2006. The Stellar Group (Jacksonville, Florida) is currently on-site constructing the addition.

Moark, LLC started a $10 million, 30,000 square-foot layer house & egg processing and packing plant to support 600,000 layer hens. The project is expected to finish at the end of 2007.

SEMO Milling, LLC has begun a $5.8 million renovation on an existing building located in the Port Complex and will install milling & packaging equipment to produce 12,000 bushels per day of corn and soy blend cornmeal for export. The SEMO Regional Port Authority is onsite (Scott City, Missouri). The estimated construction finish will be in six months.

ADM has also started property negotiations on a $7 million grassroot grain handling terminal in New Madrid. The New Madrid County Port Authority (New Madrid, Missouri) has been chosen to do construction.
