Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Callaway Nuclear Generating Station, located in Fulton, Missouri, reduced power Monday as a result of problems with turbine controls. The plant is owned by Ameren Corporation (NYSE:AEE) (Saint Louis, Missouri) and operated by subsidiary Ameren Missouri.
Officials are still troubleshooting, but believe the repairs will be minimal. The unit is operating at slightly below 50%, but is not expected to be further reduced. Officials hope to finish repairs and return the unit to full power by mid-week.
The Callaway station has a single generating unit: a Westinghouse four-loop pressurized water reactor, and a General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) turbine generator. It produces 1,190 megawatts at full load.
