Move Over Denzel, Big Pharma is in Town as INTERPHEX 2006 Opens

While the Jacob K. Javits Center would never be mistaken for a Broadway theater, it will be transformed into the venue for the pharmaceutical industry’s biggest show of the year—Interphex 2006

Released Tuesday, March 21, 2006

Reported by Annette Kreuger, Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Amidst the crowds of fans and paparazzi snapping away, Denzel Washington and Spike Lee attended the opening of their latest blockbuster movie in New York City Monday evening. Just a few miles away, preparations were underway for another big show ready to make its own flashy debut. While the Jacob K. Javits Center would never be mistaken for a Broadway theater, it will be transformed into the venue for the pharmaceutical industry’s biggest show of the year—Interphex 2006, which opens there today. Scheduled to run from March 21-23, 2006, this year’s show has been eagerly awaited by its own set of fans, all ready to see and experience the industry’s latest and greatest technological wonders.

Filled with two floors of display booths housing over 950 companies and their wares and featuring over 100 informative breakout conference sessions sponsored by the industry‘s leading product and service providers, Javits is the hot ticket in town for Pharma’s major players. With nearly $15 billion of capital projects scheduled to begin this year (reference Pharmaceutical Tracker - Online Database), more companies than ever are looking at the drug industry as their own prescription for profit. It isn’t a pipe dream in an industry where facilities can run from $250 to over $1,000 per square foot to construct and equip.

There are a stellar cast of players exhibiting at INTERPHEX 2006, featuring well-known industry suppliers, including automation and power provider ABB Systems (Wickliffe, Ohio), Milwaukee’s Rockwell Automation and GE Healthcare (Piscataway, New Jersey). Visitors, who will include the industry’s key decision makers, will have a hands-on experience at massive exhibit pavilions, each filled with elaborate displays of the latest and greatest industry automation, development, and process solutions.

Although their exhibits may be smaller or they may not yet have name recognition outside of the industry, the ingénues and supporting players of the conference are not to be overlooked. Their presence and importance to this constantly evolving industry is essential to Pharma’s success in shearing its products from the lab to market. PharmaPlan North America (Southborough, Massachusetts) will be on hand, explaining its capabilities in regards to validation and compliance consultation services. As will the Astro Pak Corporation (Chesapeake, Virginia), a global provider of high purity cleaning, derouging and passivation services for stainless steel systems and components.

A constant headliner, there is no lack of drama and excitement surrounding the drug industry (reference: 2006 Pharmaceutical-Biotech Forecast). Pass the popcorn, for INTERPHEX even has its own version of the Academy awards, as six nominees vie for the annual Facility of the Year title. We will be on hand throughout the week reporting on the winner and other developments.
