NDRC Approves 800,000 Ton Polyethylene Project in Wuhan City, China
After completion of this project, Wuhan will become the first large scale oil refining and chemical two-in-one production base in Central China.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas).The construction of the 800,000 ton polyethylene project is based on and utilizes the oil refining equipment at China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec)s Wuhan Company. The total investment into the project is about $1.9 billion. Included in the project are production equipment for 800,000 tons of polyethylene; 300,000 tons of linear low density polyethylene; 300,000 tons of high density polyethylene; 100,000-380,000 tons of epoxy ethane/glycol; and 400,000 tons of polypropylene and other production units and production accessory and auxiliary equipments.
The NDRC emphasized, that, considering the strategic geographical location of Wuhan (Wuhan is the transportation hub on the mid-section of the Yangtze River), environmental protection and worker safety shall be given special priority in this 800,000 ton polyethylene project. The latest technology on waste reduction, treatment and re-use will be adopted to reduce and prevent pollution. Discharge of pollutant into the Yangtze water system in case of accident and emergency shall be strictly prevented. At the same time, research into emergency measures to cope with worker safety failure is being carried out. An accident facility and other related emergency facilities are being built.
