Nestlé Commissions Expansion at Anderson Facility

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Nestlé USA (Glendale, California), a subsidiary of Nestlé S.A. (OTC:NSRGF) (Vevey, Switzerland), has begun commissioning an expansion at the company's beverage facility in Anderson, Indiana. Announced in the summer of 2008, the $200 million expansion comes only a year after production began at the plant, bringing total investment to $559 million. The previous $359 million, according to company's officials, was the company's single largest investment in its history. The completed expansion is expected to add nearly 135 jobs to the existing 300 workers when the facility is fully operational.

Constructed on a 190-acre site, the expansion adds 255,000 square feet to the existing 880,000-square-foot facility, plus two additional production lines. The Anderson facility manufactures and distributes Nestle Nesquik Ready-to-Drink and Coffee-mate products, and is considered the largest ready-to-drink beverage manufacturing plant in the world.

Nestlé USA retained the services of design-build firm Stellar (Jacksonville, Florida) for the project. Stone Bridge Iron & Steel, Incorporated (Gansevoort, New York) was selected to provide steel structural erection.
