Nippon Steel Corporation is temporarily shuttering three blast furnaces in Japan due to COVID-19. The No. 1 blast furnace at the East Nippon Steel Works Kashima Area was shuttered on April 15. The No. 1 blast furnace at the Kansai Steel Works Wakayama Area and No. 2 blast furnace at the East Nippon Steel Works Kimitsu Area will be shuttered this month and from the middle of May, respectively. See map below.
