The project will include a one-on-one combined-cycle unit, which will have a General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) Series 7 gas turbine. The heat-recovery steam generator (HRSG) will be duct-fired. The facility also will have a GE steam turbine.

The project has a total investment value of $450 million.

Opposition to the project has centered around the water to be used in the Oakwood Hills area. The Oakwood Hills community gets its water from an aquifer, and members of the community are worried about the depletion of the resource. The developer is looking at alternatives, such as the Fox River, which could be used to cool the facility. Members of the community also are concerned that the facility could lower local property values.

The developers anticipate the community and permitting authorities will approve the project by the third quarter of 2015, and plan to begin construction early in the fourth quarter of 2015. The project is expected to begin commercial operations by the summer of 2018.
