NSR Technology Plans New Lysine Plant in Illinois

NSR Technologies, Incorporated (Basking Ridge, New Jersey) is planning to construct a new lysine plant in Decatur, Illinois, adjacent to the existing Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) (Decatur, Illinois) production plant. The new plant will supply lysine, a food byproduct salt, to be used as a raw material in ADM's production plant.

BRH Builders and Constructors (Decatur, Illinois) has been selected as the design-build contractor for this nearly $10 million project. The new plant will include a 4,000 square foot building, with an estimated cost of $1.4 million, plus nearly $8 million in new process equipment. NSR Technologies expects construction to begin some time before the end of 2005 and take 12-14 months to complete.

NSR Technologies' founder is a former ADM employee, and it seems the bond between the two has continued through the development of Kris N. Mani's company, NSR. With the new plant's being connected to the Archer Daniels plant, it will not only be more efficient for both parties involved, but it will prove to be a positive investment, economically and environmentally, as this plant will produce an odorless product with virtually no hazardous waste. Once this plant is complete it will employ approximately forty people and will market NSR's proprietary processing equipment and technology to pulp mills and additional market industries.
