Nucor Expanding New York Steel Mill

Nucor Steel Corporation (NYSE:NUE) (Charlotte, North Carolina) is preparing to expand its bar mill in Auburn, New York. The $14 million expansion project (PEC 14002542) includes a 40,000 square foot hot mill facility and a new pusher-type reheat furnace, which has been ordered from Forni Industriali Bendotti S.p.A. (Bergamo, Italy). S/D Engineers Incorporated (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is doing the engineering on the building. Quad Engineering (Toronto, Ontario) is doing the mechanical engineering and installation in the new building. Bids should go out soon for general contractor.

Construction is scheduled to begin in April, with equipment installation in October. Project completion is projected for Spring of 2005.
