Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Workers at the Cardinal Power Station, located in Brilliant, Ohio, shut down one of the facility's three generating units on Sunday after discovering a feedwater leak. Leakage was found in some of the boiler tubes of the 115-megawatt (MW) Unit 01. The power station is run by Cardinal Operating Company, which is part of American Electric Power (NYSE:AEP) (Columbus, Ohio).

Plant officials were investigating the cause of the leak and anticipate returning the unit online by Wednesday, barring any delays.
The coal-fired plant has three generating units and a total generating capacity of 1,880 MW when at full load. Units 02 and 03 will continue to operate at full capacity while repairs are made to unit 01.
