Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). In order to continue equipment reliability, plant owners must maintain scheduled maintenance outages to keep power plants operating at their best. This would improve availability and capacity factors as well as reduce unplanned shutdown and maintenance costs.

AEP-Public Service of Oklahoma’s (Tulsa, Oklahoma) 290-megawatt (MW) Comanche Power Station (Lawton, Oklahoma) consists of two 85 MW Siemens W combustion turbines, with two Deltak heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) and a 120 MW steam generator. A short routine combustion turbine inspection is scheduled in the spring of 2007 on both CTs, followed by a major 60-day upgrade in the fall on Unit #1-1, a CT/HRSG along with a Siemens Westinghouse steam turbine. The scope of work to be performed includes a hot gas path inspection, replacement of rotors, valves, and bearings plus associated equipment.

OG&E Electric Services (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) has also scheduled maintenance outages for the three-unit 1,521 MW gas/oil Seminole Power Station (Konawa, Oklahoma). Routine maintenance is scheduled on Unit #2 in the first quarter of 2007 that includes a Siemens W turb/gen set, powered by a Babcock & Wilcox boiler, and a 60-day boiler upgrade on Unit #1 in the spring of 2008 that contains a General Electric turbine/generator set with a Babcock & Wilcox boiler.

Also in the spring of 2008, a major 28-day hot gas path inspection is scheduled on the 100 MW Unit #4 CT/HRSG/ST at Western Farmers Electric Cooperative’s (Anadarko, Oklahoma) 374 MW Anadarko Power Station (Anadarko, Oklahoma).
