Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Privately held Oland Breweries Limited (Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada) is underway with a $14 million investment to expand brewing capacity at their 135-year-old brewery in Halifax. Construction on the project began back in March of this year to increase brewing capacity from the existing one million hectoliters per year to over 1.2 million hectoliters annually. The investment includes series of projects to upgrade the brewery's fermentation system, yeast management & yeast storage areas, aging tank additions, and a new keg line. All projects are scheduled to be completed by November of 2002.
Over the past 10 years, Oland has invested over $40 million in capital to keep the brewery in top condition. Jay Brunson, Food & Beverage Manager for Industrialinfo.com, adds, This is a small specialty brewery and demand for Oland's Keith's Pale Ale has increased in Ontario. The company has been trying to squeeze more capacity out of the small brewery over the past 10 years. The brewery employs about 225 people and is located at 3055 Agricola Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia in the Maritime Provinces.
Oland Brewery prides itself on using the freshest ingredients and the highest quality standards to brew a range of local and national beers. Although the basic recipe for their most popular brand, Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale, has remained the same for over 175 years, the techniques used to brew and package the famous ale have changed dramatically.
