Oman Hopes to Boost Chemicals Industry

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Although Oman is a small country, it holds an important place in the Middle East with its significant natural resources, such as oil and gas. To boost its Chemical Processing Industry, the country recently integrated many of its major chemical companies into one entity, Oman Qaboos, which hopes to inaugurate soon the country's first ethylene and derivatives complex in the country.

Driven by ambition to enhance its position in the region and to diversify its economy, Oman is investing about $10.6 billion to implement 27 capital chemicals projects to produce olefins, aromatics, fertilizers and chlor-alkali products.
