Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). The Industrial Manufacturing Industry is expected to end the year with a bang just like it started with new industrial plant openings. During each of the first three quarters of the year, the industry created more than 20,000 new jobs per quarter and the fourth quarter appears to be no exception. Currently, Industrial Info Resources is tracking 124 new plants that are scheduled to become operational during the fourth quarter in the United States in the Industrial Manufacturing Industry representing over 20,000 new jobs.
The Great Lakes region is leading the way in total number of plant openings during the quarter, with 31 new facilities, much as it has led the way the entire year. Following the Great Lakes, the Southeast region is a distant second with 21 plants followed by the Mid-Atlantic region with 15 plants, the Northeast region with 14 plants and the Southwest region with 13 plants.
In terms of who will be the recipient of the most new jobs this quarter, the Great Lakes also tops that list with just over 5,050. However, the Southwest region takes firm control of second place with 4,500 new jobs followed by the Southeast region with 2,900, the Rocky Mountains region with 2,800 and the Midwest with 1,650 new jobs.
A closer look at where these jobs will land shows that the state of Ohio will play host to the largest number of plants becoming operational with eleven, but will only be in third place in terms of new jobs with just over 1,250. Pennsylvania is in second place with nine new plants and Kentucky and Texas are tied at third with eight. However, Texas has firm control of the highest number of new jobs with 3,900 while Pennsylvania and Kentucky will only have 1,200 and 1,270 new jobs, respectively.
Overall, the number of plants becoming operational within the U.S. for the Industrial Manufacturing Industry has remained somewhat steady throughout the year. Each quarter of the year has seen over 20,000 new jobs created and the fourth quarter will be no exception, making 2006 a very successful year in terms of new jobs within the industry, and 2007 looks to also be a bright year for the industry. Already, 280 plants are expected to open their doors during the coming year representing 50,000 new jobs for the country, a number that should only go up as 2007 progresses.
