Partnership Expects First Oil this Summer from Huge Crude-by-Rail Center in Wyoming

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Joint-venture partners Cogent Energy Solutions LLC (Overland Park, Kansas) and Granite Peak Development Company (Casper, Wyoming) expect their first oil from a huge crude-by-rail center in Casper when construction of the terminal is completed in June or July of this year.

When fully operational, the terminal will have the capacity to store 900,000 barrels of crude. Five new tanks are under construction at the site, located on 6-Mile Road just west of the Casper-Natrona County International Airport.

The center will be connected to Spectra Energy's (NYSE:SE) (Houston, Texas) Express Pipeline and will be served by the BNSF Railway (Fort Worth, Texas), a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BKRA) (Omaha, Nebraska). The center will allow for unit train and manifest loading of both heavy and light crude oil, as well as onsite blending. A new 24-inch, 35,000-foot pipeline will take crude from Alberta to the new center for distribution.

Two 6,000-loop tracks with 20 loading arms per loop will allow crude to be loaded quickly and keep the trains moving round the clock.

Another crude-by-rail terminal is being built by Enserco Energy (Denver, Colorado), which is wrapping up construction in Douglas, Wyoming, and will have future capacity to move natural gas liquids out of the state.

Eighty Eight Oil also recently completed of a crude loading terminal in Guernsey, Wyoming.
