PCCC Signs Main Construction Contract for China Datang's Bodui Hydropower Station in Tibet

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Sinohydro Engineering Bureau 10 Company Limited (Chengdu, Sichuan), a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC) (Beijing), signed the main construction contract for the dam and power generation system of China Datang Corporation's (Beijing) Bodui Hydropower Station in Tibet on December 10, 2012, according to an announcement from the PCCC on December 13.
According to the contract, Sinohydro Bureau 10 will be responsible for permanent and temporary civil works, such as the main dam, flood discharge structures, power diversion tunnel, plant area works and the step-up substation, as well as the installation and erection works for the metal structures and mechanical and electrical equipment.
Bodui Hydropower Station is located at the middle and lower reaches of Bode Cangbu River in Qinduo Town, Bomi County of southwest China's Tibet autonomous region. The river-bed type power station is the third project the four-step cascade development scheme planned for Bode Cangbu River. Its main function will be power generation.
The major structures of the project include a rolling compaction earth dam with asphalt concrete core wall, which will form a reservoir with total storage capacity of 10.87 million cubic meters under normal power level of 2,788 meters above sea level; a left-bank tunnel spillway; a flood discharge tunnel; a power intake structure; and a surface powerhouse, which will be furnished with three units of 3.2 megawatts each.
Datang Tibet Bodui Hydropower Development Company Limited, a project company specially established by China Datang Corporation, will be responsible for the development and future operations of the project.
According to plans, the first unit of the project will begin operations in October 2014, and the entire project will be completed in May 2015. Upon completion, the project will be able to generate about 67.1 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity to the Tibet grid.
