Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Following the commissioning of the first batch of eight wind turbines at China Guodian Corporation's (Beijing) Hailingdao Windfarm in January 2011, the remaining units of Phase I of the project were connected to the grid via the 110-kilovolt Zapo Substation, allowing the clean energy development of China Guodian Corporation in southern China to reach a new stage, said China Guodian Corporation Southern Branch Company (Guangzhou, Guangdong) in its announcement.

Hailingdao Windfarm, which is at Zapo Town in Yangjiang City, in the Guangdong province, has a total planned capacity of 400 megawatts (MW), to be built in four phases. Phase I is furnished with 33 wind turbines, each of 780 kilowatts, with a total installed capacity of 25.74 MW. The project was designed by Pearl River Planning, Survey and Design Company Limited (Guangzhou, Guangdong) and built by Anhui Electric Power Construction No.1 Engineering Company (Hefei, Anhui). All the wind turbines are manufactured by Huayi Electric Company Limited (SHA:600290) (Yueqing, Zhejiang), a listed subsidiary of Huayi Electric Apparatus Group Company Limited. Guodian Yangjiang Hailingdao Wind Power Company Limited (GYHWPC) (Yangjiang, Guangdong), a subsidiary of China Guodian Corporation, is responsible for the construction and operation of the project.

As reported, Phase I alone could supply of about 50 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity to the grid, save about 28,000 metric tons of standard coal, and reduce the emission of about 56,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide and 1,600 metric tons of sulfur dioxide every year.

Presently, GYHWPC is working on the preparation of the other phases in Yangjiang. Subject to the final approval, construction of the Phase II will be performed shortly.
