Portuguese Manufacturer EFACEC Moves Ahead with Construction of $100 Million Manufacturing Plant in Georgia

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Porto, Portugal-based EFACEC Group, a manufacturer of power substations, is currently under way with a $100 million power transformer manufacturing plant to be constructed in Springfield, Georgia. This will be the company's first U.S manufacturing plant.

The plant, located at the Effingham Industrial Development Authority's Industrial Park, will have three buildings totaling 420,000 square feet (235,000-square-foot manufacturing building, 17,000-square-foot office building and compressor building) on 45 acres with the installation of production equipment to build power transformers, including core form, shell form and mobile power substations for U.S. utility customers, including Georgia Power (NYSE:GPW) (Atlanta, Georgia) and Florida Power. Site preparation began in September 2008, and building construction began in November. Overall project completion is slated for late summer 2009. Approximately 500 new jobs will be created.

BRPH Companies Incorporated (Melbourne, Florida) was selected to provide architectural services for the new plant, and BE&K Building Group (Greenville, South Carolina) was selected to provide general construction services.
