The Power Industry accounts for 73% of the planned project spending from 40 projects, including merchant power plant construction, coal-fired unit additions, and several grassroot windfarms.

Iowa is the leading state in the nation for Alternative Fuel Industry production plant construction. The Alternative Fuels Industry is the second largest industry in the state for future project spending with nine grassroot plants planned worth $931 million. Iowa’s corn farmers are cashing in to support America’s future ethanol fuel demand. Combined the Power and Alternative Fuel industries account for 89% of future industrial project spending in the state. Other contributors include Pharma-Biotech with $237 million, and Industrial Manufacturing with $190 million.
