Pristine Power Completes Construction of $160 Million Cogeneration Project in Ontario

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--East Windsor Cogeneration LP (Windsor, Ontario), a 50:50 joint venture of Fort Chicago Energy Partners LP (Calgary, Alberta) and Pristine Power Incorporated (TSX:PPX) (Calgary), has completed construction and is set to commence commercial operation of the estimated $160 million, 84-megawatt (MW) East Windsor Cogeneration Centre (EWCC) at the site of the Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) (Dearborn, Michigan) Powerhouse in Windsor.

Construction of the project began in late 2007 and was completed this fall. East Windsor is set to begin full commercial operations this month. The project consisted of constructing two 42-MW, natural gas-fired LM6000PC SPRINT combustion turbine generators from General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut), and two once-through duct-fired steam generators (OTSG). The facility also features state-of-the art emissions technology, such as dry low-NOx burners to reduce nitrous oxide emissions.

EWCC entered into a 20-year Combined Heat and Power Contract with Ontario Power Authority to sell electricity to the Ontario power market, providing enough energy to more than 80,000 homes in the province of Ontario. In addition, the project has a five-year process steam supply agreement with Ford Motor Company of Canada.
