Quebec's Northland Windfarm Comes Online

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Northern Power Income Fund (Toronto, Ontario) has announced that Le Jardin d'Eole Windfarm has begun commercial operations. This project had a price tag of $268 million and was completed ahead of the scheduled completion date. Le Jardin d'Eole consists of 85 General Electric (NYSE:GE) 1.5-megawatt (MW) wind turbines and has a nameplate capacity of 127.5 MW. The project is located in St. Ulric, near the city of Matane in Quebec.

Hydro Quebec (Montreal, Quebec) has entered into an agreement to buy the electricity produced by the facility for a 20-year period.

Borea Construction provided turnkey services for the construction and completion of the windfarm. Borea is a joint venture between Montreal's Pomerleau Construction and DH Blattner and Sons (Avon, Minnesota).
